001Our Story

Building
Alaska
Since 1977.

Locally owned and operated. Family-run for 47 years. From a single block machine in Soldotna to Alaska's most trusted concrete supplier.

002Our Beginnings

From One Block Machine to Seven Divisions.

Our beginnings started in 1977 in downtown Soldotna. Scott, his brother Rusty, and cousin Chuck purchased a block machine and property from Scott and Rusty's father, Leonard Davis.

The trio started Davis Block next to the old State DOT yard — now known as Soldotna Creek Park. Davis Block manufactured one item: 8" standard building blocks. The Davis's ran the plant and made deliveries themselves for many years.

Several years into the 1980s, the Davis's expanded by adding ready-mixed concrete in Seward in 1988. Not long after, they opened a ready-mix operation in the Twin Cities of Kenai and Soldotna.

In 1993, the Davis's opened three locations in Anchorage — two ready-mix divisions on West Dowling and a larger facility on C Street, plus a block plant on Lake Otis. Davis Block expanded into block, concrete, retaining wall, and precast markets across Anchorage and the Valley.

In 1999, following Anchorage expansion, Scott and Rusty refocused on Soldotna. Later they expanded back into Anchorage supplying pavers and retaining wall blocks to big box stores statewide.

In 2004, Rusty retired and Scott took over Davis Block & Concrete. Expansion of precast, retaining wall, and architectural block continued across Anchorage, Valley, and Fairbanks markets. Scott expanded the trucking fleet — shipping block to Anchorage and hauling bulk cement back to Soldotna/Kenai.

In 2009, Davis Block recognized they had outgrown the Soldotna location and moved to their current site on Ciechanski Road (Ravenwood St), Kenai. A new 38,000 sq ft block production facility, new office building, new precast building, and expanded shop were constructed. The company also expanded its remote concrete division statewide.

Today, Davis Block & Concrete remains locally owned and operated by the Davis Family — supplying concrete products to projects across the state of Alaska.
